I wasn't expecting it, but it has happened. And from the trailer, it looks to be an outstanding film. Where The Wild Things Are, is the one book that stands out to me from my childhood. I think it does for many people. I remember having my parents read it to me night after night. Instead of the standard Dr. Seuss, or other picture book, this was about monsters. Big hairy ugly wild fearsome monsters, and a boy who conquers them "by staring into their yellow eyes without blinking once," and is made "the King of all Wild Things." As a child I always liked to think that I would be able to stare into the yellow eyes of a fierce beast. I was a self-proclaimed King of all Wild Things. Every kid was.

I am excited for this movie, I mean, the music in the trailer is by Arcade Fire! What "children's" movie has ever had the raw greatness of any indie band and the privilage to be directed by the visionary Spike Jonez? I have faith that this will not be the ordinary Disney/Dreamworks flick. It's dark, intriguing, full of emotion, makes me nostalgic for my childhood, and has a magic about it. I will see this movie.
